Aaron’s first haircut
My wife believes in this old-wives-tale where kids should get their first haircut after the kid reaches one. And not just that, the first cut should be done by someone smart, or really smart so that the kid will grow smart as well. We did it with Adrian and now, with Aaron. Just out of curiosity I googled it and I found the following:
1) Ukrainian babies often have their hair cut on their first birthday as part of the ancient Postryzhennya custom.
2) There is an African American tradition of performing the first haircut on or around the child’s first birthday.
3) Traditional Jews often wait until a boy’s third birthday before giving his first haircut. This is called “Upsherin” — a Yiddish word meaning to “cut off.” (Little extreme I think.)
I did not find anything specific about this old-wives-tale. But as I was browsing the haircut department of the internet, I read a lot of comments on forums about them doing/did the same thing to their kids – they waited one year and they let a smart person or someone with a good personality do the first cut.
For both of our sons, we chose our good friend Shereen to do the first cut. Shereen has a really good personality and really smart. She enjoys long walk on the beach and reading a book by the fireplace. If you want to know more about Shereen please contact us. She’s married by the way.
Thank you Shereen!!
So now, here’s Aaron’s first haircut. Videos are at the bottom
(Excuse the quality – wife’s hands were shaky and it’s only a cameraphone)

Aaron’s 1st birthday celebration
Happy 1st birthday to our youngest son, Aaron Elijah. He was born 10/10/10. We had his first birthday party on the 15th of October because the weekend of his birthday is a Thanksgiving weekend. We were afraid that people might not come because of family dinners and stuff. Well, it turned out great on the 15th. The sun was out, kids (and adults too) had a blast on the bouncy plaything, majority of who we invited made it, the food was excellent. We couldn’t ask for more.
Special shout-out goes to Kimiko and Andrew!!! They were there on time! But, here’s the thing, she wasn’t sure if they got the right weekend! She asked me: “Is today the day of Aaron’s party?” LOL!! She got the time right but wasn’t sure of the day. Thank you very much guys for coming on time and giving us a hand with the set-up!!!
Aaron’s party is all about Mickey Mouse clubhouse. Whenever that show comes on the Disney channel, he gets up and dances. So cute!!! But now he’s got a new favorite, Little Einsteins. Him and his brother, they love that show. Maybe next year that’s the theme? Maybe not, they grow up so fast. Who knows what it will be.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, to everyone who attended. You made Aaron’s birthday more special.
I hope you guys enjoy.

Once again, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, to everyone who attended. You made Aaron’s birthday very special.
Happy Pumpkin Pie Day!!!
It’s still a few days from now, but here’s a little post to greet everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your turkeys and pumpkin pies!!!

Aaron’s First Birthday Party Invitation
Recently we did a small quick photo shoot for Aaron’s first birthday party invitation. His party’s theme is “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse”. It’s one of his favorite TV shows. It was quite warm in the house so we had to do it quick or else Aaron will be covered in sweat. About 15 minutes in to the shoot, wife was happy with the captures. Here’s some of them and the final product.
Mina Family – Family Shoot August 3, 2011
Finally did the photo shoot of Mina family. Joen contacted me around May or early June. I said “finally” because whenever we set a date and that date comes, something comes up – emergency, weather not cooperating, cross-border shopping…lol. I got together with them recently to photograph their family. I had a good time and hopefully they did too
