Halloween 2009

November 2, 2009

This Halloween that just passed was probably the best Halloween I have ever experienced. Reasons are:

  • a) this was the first time that I really dressed-up;
  • b) spent it with close family and friends;
  • c) no accidents happened after firing all those fireworks;
  • d) the best reason is: my son went for his first trick or treating.

Rob Long – Haida Art

October 25, 2009

A long time good friend of mine, Rob Long, gave up a lot of things so he can focus honing his skills as a Haida artist. Carving is in his blood, it’s his passion.
He is one of Robert Davidson’s apprentice. Haida artist Robert Davidson is one of Canada’s most respected and important contemporary artists.
When Rob contacted me to see if I would like to take photos of his work, I never imagined that they were this gorgeous. When he first showed them to me, I seriously thought that they were stolen from a gallery. The intricacy, the details, the colors, left me in awe. You can really see all the hard work that went into each piece.
Enjoy Rob Long’s work. There’s more to come from him.

UPDATE: The green mask now belongs to a local gallery.

    Beautiful photos!! Rob is my nephew, and his entire family is so proud of him!!! Your photos make his work look even better, if that’s possible, thanks for taking the time and interest in Rob’s work!

I did their engagement session a while back. It’s here.

Our two good friends, M&N, will have their church wedding in the Philippines this coming December. Since there’s people that can’t go to their wedding there, they decided to have a small civil wedding here.

Here’s a pic of the beautiful, glowing, super happy bride with her “sisters”.

Here’s the first picture of them as a happy newly married couple:

There’s something about a woman’s body. “A woman’s body is a work of art.” I guess that’s why I got into shooting maternity. I wanted to try out and ‘maybe’ focus my attention to the sexy world of boudoir and nude photography. I put out a casting call and Ms. A.L. was the one I chose. She really wanted to do it. It was her first time being in any kind of photo shoot. I knew that she was really confident because, who would do a nude session when you never had any experience being in front of a camera as a model? Confidence was a big factor. She was confident with her body, with the situation, with me. It made my work a bit easier.

Here’s some of the result. More in the password protected post.

Tak-cura – Car photo shoot

October 15, 2009

A friend of mine and also co-worker, Tak, wanted to take some photos of his Acura (can you guess where I got Tak-cura?). He asked if I do car shoots. I said no. I’ve never done it before, but I can give it a try. We picked a nice sunny day… but this is Vancouver, so it rained right when we got to the location. So we were forced to find a covered parking lot. When we found one, the rain stopped and the sun came out again. The weather that day was playing us.
Here are the results of my first ever car photo shoot.

Very good friends of ours are getting married in December in the Philippines. Too bad I can’t come. It would be a blast. I volunteered to do their engagement session. I told them that it will be my first time doing an e-session. They happily agreed. Here’s the outcome.

DL’s maternity shoot was a blast. Had so much. She was up for anything. Totally cool. After two weeks of our shoot, she gave birth to this wonderful little baby girl. The shoot was done while she was two weeks old. She was such a cutie. She didn’t get to sleep for a long time. Every time she hears the clicking sound of my camera she wakes up :-) I still manage to get a few good shots. Here they are:

DL – Maternity Shoot

October 13, 2009

Wow. I’ve been so busy that I totally neglected my site. I haven’t been uploading in a while. This shoot was done in August. It’s now mid-October. I can’t believe how crazy (time-wise) it can be when you have an 8 month old baby boy moving around. Anyways, here is this maternity shoot that I did in August.

Me and my buddy James went to the second home game of the Vancouver Canucks. It was against the Dallas Stars. This was my second time going to a regular season game and it was the second time I went to a Canucks game that week…lol. Actually, the day before, we also saw the Canucks during their open practice at GM Place. That is seeing them three times in one week. Canucks fan or what?

So anyways, I managed to sneak my camera in (they don’t allow lenses higher than 70mm – hence “sneak”) and here’s some of the shots.
